Laura's Biscuits

Simple, buttery, Southern style biscuits. I make these for Laura anytime they go out of town so they can have snacks on the road. I personally try not to eat them myself because, Sweet Satan, a whole stick of butter? I'm not ready to die. A note, the original recipe asked for 3/4 cup of milk but I find that's never enough. Use best judgement here.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 c butter
  • 2 c flour
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 c milk

Cookware

  • large mixing bowl
  • potato masher
  • cast iron skillet

Steps

  1. Preheat oven to 425F.

  2. Cube butter

  3. In a large mixing bowl combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt.

  4. Cut in butter with potato masher until it looks like cornmeal.

  5. Slowly add milk and gently knead. Add milk until desired consistency.

  6. Flatten out to desired thickness in mixing bowl.
